The family workshop behind your custom trailer or portable building
Beaver-Built Transportables designs and builds custom enclosed trailers and portable buildings from our workshop at Te Kowhai, Hamilton. Every project is designed and built to suit the customer's requirements.
Customers arrive with a wishlist, a rough sketch or a set of measurements, and we build the trailer or building to suit the way they work. The same three people handle your quote, your build and your handover.
Past projects include food trailers and food truck conversions, commercial kitchen fitouts, event toilet and shower trailers for weddings and markets, merchandise and race car trailers, decontamination units and mobile clinics, along with portable offices, cabins and sleepouts.
Trailer and caravan repairs, including insurance work, are carried out in the same workshop.
Meet the family who build your trailers
Beaver-Built is run by the hands-on team of Delwyn, Craig, and Michael. Craig brings over 40 years of trade experience as a panel beater, rooted in his long history with stock car and midget racing—where his passion for trailer building first started.
Michael has spent 15 years building alongside Craig, now leading much of the fabrication, while Delwyn manages quotes, floor plans, and customer care. As a tight-knit workshop, the team you talk to on day one is the same team building your project from start to finish.
They started out in 1995 making portable buildings from poly panel: steel skins either side of an insulated core, much like a chilly bin, finished inside and out. Trailers came later, after Craig built one for a race car using the same material and the trailer business grew from there.

What to expect when you build with Beaver-Built
Our trailers feature treated plywood floors and coved vinyl that runs roughly 100mm up the wall, so corners can be cleaned properly. Pre-galvanised steel and galvanised drawbars slow rust, while 12-volt solar sits on the roof and all doors and hatches lock.
Electrical and gas work is carried out and certified by qualified electricians and gasfitters. Trailers are supplied registered and with a Warrant of Fitness, and bought-in components carry their own manufacturers' warranties.

Beaver-Built Transportables is family owned and operated from Te Kowhai, with the same people quoting, welding, panelling and fitting out each job.
Talk straight to the builders
There is no sales layer between you and the workshop floor, so measurements, layout ideas and practical changes are discussed directly with the people who build the trailers.
Repairs others may turn down
Where other shops see a write-off, we see a repair. Water leaks, rotten caravan floors, collision damage and rust can be repaired by replacing damaged sections and rebuilding it stronger than before.
